I am looking into working at Sunrise hospital and am wondering if there is anyone working there who can tell me how they like working there. Or if anyone has heard things about them and can pass that on. Basically I am just looking to find out more info on them.

I worked at Sunrise from 91-92 and loved it. The CNO's name is Dee (and I can't remember her last name. She was the nursing supervisor there when I worked there and she truly is a wonderful person. I know that gang violence has escalated (and it was pretty bad when I lived there) and I know the town is growing too rapidly for the infrastructure to keep up - so that is something to consider also. Good luck.

I plan on relocating to NV when I pass NCLEX. I have also considered Sunrise. I will be staying with family, and this hospital is very close to where I will be staying. That is a major factor for me. I am from a very small town in NC, so I feel more comfortable being close to work while I learn my way around Las Vegas. The nurse recruiter's name is Wendy Henriques, she has been very helpful. Good luck!
Thanks everyone for your replies....When I called the hospital and asked for the nurse recruiters name I was given Debbie Barr. That was what I put on my cover letter. I wonder if they gave me the wrong name by accident. Never the less I got a call and have an interview on Tuesday.

I worked there for 2 years and it nearly put me off nursing all together, I dont recommend it
dnursxb6,
What area of the hospital did you work in? Can you be more specific about what you disliked? What years?
Thanks
medical and surgical nursing, they have a scheme called partnership in care 12 pts to 1 Rn with a LPN and ! CNA. It was horrible, just does not work. The Rn has to do all the assessment s, documentation and be responsible for the 12. You rarely got breaks, union very militant and agressive, not really supportive. you were worked like a dog. Staff not team orientated, went off sick at the drop of a hat, nurses would stab you in the back, lots of travel nurses. No support from upper management
That sounds horrible!!! Where do you work now dnursxb6?

Hello.
I hope you are well.
I also have an interest in learning about working conditions at Sunrise Hospital. I may have an opportunity to work as a new grad in ICU. I was provided with very positive information, and I have a positive attitude about the prospectus of starting my career as a nurse.
If anyone has any additional information about Sunrise Hospital, I would appreciate it.
I thank you for your consideration.
John
