Good morning!
Glad you had a good time Joe.
I don't go to many festivals anymore and miss some because of working every other weekend. Last weekend when I was working was a good one called "Geckofest" in the town of Gulfport which is a huge one with vendors and music celebrating the end of Summer and their unofficial mascot the Gecko. Most of the festivals are in the Winter when the snowbirds are here.
Slept in again today after feeding the dogs. It was after 1AM until I was able to fall asleep but it was mostly because I wasn't tired. My "sleep hygiene" is all messed up again.
Going to mix up a Spanish spice blend to make some chickpea soup. Making my own spice blends without salt is my new thing. Well, not so new but stepping out of my usual blends to try new ones. Pinterest has a few recipes and their algorithm must know I use them because a lot are popping up on my feed that I'm interested in trying.
I went down a rabbit hole while having coffee this AM and updated on my 403B my retirement goals and downloaded my other account. It said I have a "fair" chance of meeting my goals. I don't want a "fair" chance, but I probably overestimated what I need per month, but I'm concerned about the high cost of insurance. Later this year I'll meet with an advisor and see what they have to say. My long term advisor is retiring and he's always been encouraging. I'll meet with his partner.
81 degrees now and will get up to 90.
Howdy~
Got up at 10 and fed Momo, then went back to sleep until the stroke of noon. I'm sorry to say I only changed my 'cussword' to something slightly milder, but with the same meaning as yesterday's cussword. 🙃 But at least I tried....a little. To tell you the truth I wasn't trying to say something milder, I just did, so I maybe shouldn't pat myself on the back too soon. And once I swallowed my meds, I wondered if I had taken them earlier....but I don't think I did. If I feel revved up or dopey, it will be a big clue.
Temps today will be 74 with a feels-like of 79 and humidity at 44%. It's kind of overcast but we aren't supposed to have rain.
I suppose I could do MY laundry, and there are a few glasses, dishes, and spoons to wash, as usual. Sometimes I do the dishes right away, and other times I say "Oh, heck!" and just soak them in hot soapy water until I feel inclined to wash them. My intentions for any improvements last about three days. Out of BOOST for Nannie. Hoping for a third quiet and dull day; fingers crossed!
Cats, rats, hags and bags, (as my mother used to say).....it is time to go into Nannie's room and start the day for her. If it was already tomorrow, I could wait for SiL to come get her up, but it is today, so it is my turn.
The light bulb of my reading lamp has blinked out for good ☹️ so I will have to replace it, but that requires a trip to Lowe's or Home Depot, as it is whatcha might call a different, fancy kind of bulb, which I expect to be rather pricey. Oh well, if it has to do with reading, it must be done! I mean....some things can be put off, but not this! I NEED that light bulb! I may end up having to take Nannie out in the car to go get me a bulb....which my sister and I used to refer to as a "light-blub".
At'sa all fer now....
ARGH! After I got up from my seat on the sofa, I realized I had sat on a pee-deposit on the underpad. Usually I can SEE if Momo has peed there, but I didn't know it was there until I got up and felt the wetness cool down. MORE laundry! And I hate having a wet butt, especially when it is from dog pee! EGADS! So I will have to change and that's more laundry to add to the load.
Could not remove the lightbulb from the reading lamp....it has 4 short cigar-shaped bulbs joined together in a row, they are attached to a base from which you supposedly can remove the whole rigamarole from the lamp. But even though I looked it up on line, it does NOT do how it is supposed to do, according to the video. What it DID do was make me feel a bit stewpitt. So, I took Nannie out to Lowe's and looked around, bought a cheapo replacement lamp. Well, $37 was the least expensive of the three floor lamps of that type that they had in stock. I put it together, so NOW, once again (!) I have light to read by! w00tie-w00t-w00t! It's dangerous to be a print-junkie and not be able to read words clearly; my brain might have imploded if I could not read for a whole entire evening!
Supper is chicken with pasta, creamy garlic sauce, spinach and Roma tomatoes; it's in the oven and will be ready in almost an hour. And I got Nannie a mini-carrot-cake to serve with her little 4-5 ounce container of ice cream for dessert. No, not for me.... I seldom eat dessert after lunch or supper. I used to tell my Mom I would have it later. The reason I didn't care for dessert right after a meal? Because the dessert chases the taste of the supper out of your mouth, and if it was a good supper, I want to enjoy my happy taste buds for a while after I am through eating. Yeah, maybe it sounds weird, but that's the way I've been for most of my life! My grandfather used to say, "What kind of a kid are you? You don't want dessert, and whenever I take you kids out for ice cream, YOU want french-fries!" (Yup. That's me!)
Ooooh, dianah! I got something in the mail this afternoon and couldn't figure out what I ordered and why it was coming on a Sunday! When I opened it up, I had to laugh, It really is cute! Thank you! I will introduce Nannie to it AFTER she has had her supper, because she is generally cranky at this time of the afternoon (SUN-DOWNING !) and acts nicer after eating. Right now she is frowning, and will be until the food is on her tray and on a fork on its way to her mouth!
It's almost time for the local news, but I betcha it's been bumped by some kind of ball game. That's okay, the world will keep turning if I miss the local news. I hope if I have to turn to HGTV they are not showing the shows they showed yesterday....'cause sometimes they do that, and it's annoying.
But I am going to go set up our supper trays, as I am hungry, too!
Bye for now!
LOL, No Stars, glad it arrived earlier today rather than later! I had plans whirling in my head for how to make a small-ish one -- say 3ft by 3ft -- but when I looked up what was available ready-made, and saw that one, well I couldn't resist! I will tuck the plans away in my head.
I slept OK, after 2 or 3. The huge Line Fire, to the north west of us, is our main attention-getter right now. 17,000 acres and no containment. It is heading up the mountains, and several small mountain communities have been evacuated. And it is 104 degrees out now. It has created its own weather system, and we have sprinkles and are hearing frequent rumblings of thunder. I pray for the firefighters' safety, and that the fire will soon be contained. I also feel for the displaced wildlife, so sad.
Temps are predicted to drop to the mid-80s by Tuesday.
I have a load of laundry cogitating, and need to change sheets and towels. Not much else going on.
Have a good evening!
It's still cloudy out, but the rain only lasted an hour or so. I got the wash in from the dryer, need to fold it now. I made some tomato soup, and had some leftover crimini mushrooms and half a bell pepper, from when I made eggplant "pizzas" earlier in the week. I sauteed those and added them to the soup (after I'd pureed the cooked base). We have enough for three meals, yay!
I may watch a movie later, thinking about watching some version of Jane Eyre.
Have a good evening!

Tweety that's an advantage of a major city, lots of stuff going on
Dianah I find myself periodically battling the ants interested in the cat's food, more so in the cold months
Stars glad yesterday was quiet and dull
NJ22 with this one admission is free but you pay for the food, either a regular amount or a smaller "taste" We did the tastes as it allowed us to try more stuff
Went bird watching in the morning, not many people out, probably because it was only in the upper 50s, unusually cool for this time of year. In the afternoon when to the Taste of Chicago, my date was delayed about 45min due to traffic but we did have a good time, and tried some foods that we don't normally eat. Weather continued to be good, only in the 60s. Took the train to and from the city. Probably hadn't been to this in about 30 years, not quite as crowded as it used to be but still a lot of people
Today have church, thankfully nothing to do there this Sunday. Afterwards meeting for coffee with the over 50 group, likely will be just me and the organizer again. Then will do the cooking for the week and exercise
Will be unusually cool today too, will only get into the mid 70s
