3 more days of Prednisone, and I'm done. The gypsies have a REAL RESPECT for Prednisone; like, whatever that insurance or investment company was that advertised, "When ___?___ talks, everyone listens" The gypsies have listened. It is SOOOOO nice to move without the surprise of a joint going *WHANG* EeeeYOW!*
Still itching in some areas, but overall the rash is s-l-o-w-l-y receding.
Hope when I get Nannie up she goes to sleep again right after breakfast! She did that yesterday after breakfast, and then again after supper! It was LOVELY! Poor thing, after I get her dressed, I say, "Now turn to your right, and put your hand on the counter where the sink is", she will look left, at the back of the toilet, then reach for the tub's curtains, and when I say, "that's not the bathroom sink; look over here...." then she's 'lost' again. She also asks, after eating 3/4's of her yogurt, "Do you want me to finish this?" And then, later, she says it is "weird" because there is a pocket on each side of her cardigan sweater! Like an alien arrived on Earth with no idea about anything. What was that movie with Jeff Bridges as an outer-space alien who is trying to act normal to 'fit in' ? (But she is not nearly as charming as he was!)
I have cleaned up a few small areas, like my bathroom counter around the sink, the kitchen counters (but not the kitchen table... yet) ; and my table beside the sofa here where I sit. I am such a cluttery slob, and I have to just OWN it! But I know if Nannie could be gone for a whole week, and everyone else would leave me alone, I could whip this place into order. It's just keeping it that way that is the problem for me.
72 degrees and that's the high for the day. Possibility of a shower this afternoon; first it said around 2 PM, now it says around 4 PM. Fickle weather!
I have to do something to keep my eyes pointed down....like a puzzle or something......she is fiddling and fiddling with her sweater and it can drive a person crazy to watch. It is ENDLESS! It seems to fascinate her to rearrange everything over and over again, searching for perfection. Phew.
My older bro in Michigan wrote us all an email saying that he woke up the other night with a lot of pain; went to the ER and a scan showed a growth on his liver; he said the MRI, which was VERY PAINFUL (?!) confirmed it. They sent him home with NO pain med, but he got some Lidocaine patches which bring the pain down to a dull roar. He is to go to outpatient Monday for a biopsy.
He is almost 80 now; hard to believe we are all senior citizens! He had to take care of his wife while she was going through Alzheimer's and the consequence was he had a heart attack about 6-8 years ago. We are all spread out....he is in Michigan, my sister is in Southern Maine, and my younger brother is somewhere in Northern California, while I am here in the South! None of us has kids, but my sister and younger brother still have their spouses, but essentially we are family-less. I guess I am less so, since my in-laws are here. Anyway, I reckon it was all of our own choices to get as far away from each other as possible! Not that there was or is any fight going on....it is just that though we do love each other, it is a "New England" kind of love....at a distance.... ie, we REALLY irritate each other if we are together for longer than a week. Oh well, at least we understand about that and don't hold it against each other!
Guess it is time to pick up the word-search puzzles and wait for Nannie to become bored enough with looking out at the back yard, to close her eyes and: "Kaw-pew. kaw-pew, kaw-pew!" She was snoring so loudly before I got her up that I could hear her all the way up in my room! Now THAT was some SERIOUS sleeping!
Hello. It is warm and the air is humid and heavy. Clouds are looming and there's a little thunder. We are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 9 pm. I guess that's really just a Sunday afternoon in May in Oklahoma. EXCEPT a man from our church posted on Facebook that his SIL's house near Ada had the roof torn off the other night by a tornado. She's a widow who was married to his late brother.
Nevertheless, Hubs and I bought cook-out foods after going to sing with the choir at the nursing home this afternoon. I'm waiting for some frozen piecrusts to thaw and I will get back to food prep. There's not a lot to do.
We watched the beginning and the end of the Indy 500.
Nannie has not stopped fiddling with her sweater AT ALL today. Whenever I happened to glance over at her she was arranging and rearranging her sleeves. And she has NOT closed her eyes to doze for even 30 seconds. AND she pointed to the fireplace and asked what it was! It's also after 4:30 PM and we have yet to experience even a light sprinkle of rain. Plus, SiL called and asked me if I minded if she didn't take Nannie to daycare Monday since she had to be at work at the ABC store at 6:30 AM when the truck would arrive with more cases of booze. Then she asked if I would get Nannie up and dressed Monday AM, so BiL could take her....... OR she could just take her Tuesday instead of Monday, like we did this past week. I voted she take her on Tuesday. After we hung up I realized that the daycare center is CLOSED Monday anyway, due to it being Memorial Day tomorrow. D'Oh!
A Strange Day, Indeed!
I have just finished a word search puzzle, where I encountered "Ado Annie" and found out she was a character from OKLAHOMA. I never knew the origin of your screen name, Ado! Ya learn sumpthin' new every day. But, I'll bet you can say "NO" sometimes! 😊
And Nannie just asked me if I had something that would keep me from ...."nickel" . HUH? She got mad because I didn't understand her. I went through a list of possibilities to which she answered "No." every time. I said "Are you sure you aren't asking me to take you to the bathroom?" ...."NO!" ....Then in less than two minutes she asked me if I could take her into the bathroom. "Bathroom" is nothing like "nickel" and since she has never, ever uttered the word "tinkle" ..... whaddya think I shoulda thunk? So when she was seated on the toilet, I asked again if she had to pee, and of course she said "No"....and she was correct and I was wrong to ask,...because she had done it in the pad on her way to the bathroom!
Ain't life exciting?
Hello all! We are home after a short camping trip with the bluegrass association. We left Thurs around 1 for a 1.5 hour drive to a regional park in the high desert. We camped and jammed and visited. Worked so hard each day chatting and jamming (outside) that, when we quit each night around 1030, I slept really well! The weather was nice, in the low 80's, with winds not-as-bad-as-other-years! We really enjoyed playing and getting to know some new, mutually music-minded ppl!
The RV is unloaded, and only my little duffel bag needs to be unpacked-- dh has already unpacked. A shower later will feel REAL GOOD!
Thinking of the Memorial Day and those who gave us, and maintain, our freedom.
Have a good evening!

Stars glad she was quiet so you could be productive
Glad the work day was ordinary Tweety
Yesterday was a good day, though a bit busy. Did bird watching in the morning, had lunch with dad, ran errands, and did some cleaning. Did a really thorough clean of the cat's water fountain, in case that's the cause of the increased vomiting. Tried out the modified bike rack for the first time, took time to figure out how to fit it properly but I think I have it figured out. Watched part of Svengoolie
Today going to church early to usher. Church is now on its Summer schedule, only 1 service at 9. Will come home and do cooking for the week and then take my bike to the Prairie Path for a ride, haven't done that in more than a year
Weather should be nice, mid to upper 60s
