Happy Mothers Day

Stars a shingles vaccine is a good idea, dad's girlfriend got shingles weeks ago and still isn't completely over it

Tweety hope it is not a miserable day at work

NJ22 not surprised they sold  out, drove by a plant nursery yesterday and it was packed

Did bird with the group, didn't see many birds.  Wasn't that excited about the birds we did see.  Thinking that maybe I don't care that much for bird watching,  and that I just like to be outside.

The vet appointment wasn't bad and was over pretty quick, as it was just a blood draw.  Will have the results Monday although I can see the thyroid medication is already working

Went to buy some new shirts and some groceries then had lunch with dad.  Exercised and skipped Svengoolie.  Altogether a pretty productive day.

Today will get a crock pot recipe going before church.  At church I'll be ushering, might be busier than usual as it's Mothers Day

Will be cooler today, rain likely and in the lower 60s

Happy "I'm Not A Mother" Day~ (Well, we childless women need a Special Day, too! And I am happy I don't have any kids.

Woke up at noon and realized I had to get Nannie up because today's baseball game is at 1 PM, well, first pitch is at 1:30 or something like that. The pregame show is just a lot of blah-blah-blah, so I have been skipping most of those 1/2 hr to 45 min wastes of time. We lost last night's game to the Blue Jays; I call 'em the Tonto-Torontos, and I hope that isn't racist to say Tonto!  I say it because it rhymes! One of my favorite jokes is that the Lone Ranger and Tonto are surrounded by a tribe of Indians, and The Lone Ranger says, "What are we going to do now, Tonto?" and Tonto replies, "What do you mean 'WE', white man?" That's amusing, isn't it? If not, pleeze fohgive mee!

It is cloudy 'all over more than any place else.' ? Warm. and so far, no precipitation. Last night after we closed the drapes, Nannie asked thrice if it was raining. Hubby said, "Why are you so worried all the time about if it is raining or not?" She said it was because she didn't want to get sopping wet. But the thing is she NEVER goes outside unless it is a short walk ( ten short little steps or less) to and from the passenger's side door of the car when I take her to the doc or hairdresser, and if it was raining, we would re-schedule her appointment. We did-not-say that she can get 'sopping wet' without even leaving her recliner. ?

Okay, game is about to start. I'll be back by here later on-----

Happy Mother and non-Mother Day. All three of our kids plus DIL, plus the 2 grandkids met for breakfast this morning at the local diner. It was so nice to see everyone and catch up. Eldest ds has been working lots of OT, plus rebuilding his shop/garage. I feel like dd had not felt well all Spring, but today was a good day for her. I marvel out how much food the grandsons can put away! I rode my bike there and was quite sweaty when I got home, due to the heat and humidity. I did a bit of gardening, now I am doing some laundry and watching a movie on Hulu: The Book Thief. dh was going to go visit his mother, but he is sound asleep in the recliner.

Yes, most definitely, get the shingles vaccine! Our pharmacist tried to talk my dh out of getting his covid booster and his shingles at the same time, but he did it anyway, with my encouragement.

I have no interest in cooking dinner tonight. I think it may be soup and sandwiches, to help keep the house cool. We have some nice sharp Tillamook cheese, to make yummy grilled cheese sandwiches, and I think there is some canned tomato soup I can heat up. Comfort food!

The shingles vaccine is the only vaccine I've ever had that made me sick.  But better than shingles.

I have nothing good to say about today.  In charge, with a full assignment, no secretary and only one tech with 18 patients on the floor.  One of my co-workers is orienting a new grad and was able to help with the phones.  Clocked out over an hour late.  Bleh...to make matters worse overtime shift tomorrow.  I'm questioning my life choices.

Game's over; we lost, 6-4.

Waiting on the channel where the local news comes on, we have the very last few minutes of a basketball game, minus the sound. Nannie sez, "Did you see that man hit and push that boy?" Uh,no, Nannie.....      It was a winning player whose coach was giving him a happy clap on the shoulder as he was running by him.  Weird perspectives abound from her mouth. For Pete's sake, every time this one guy came on screen tonight, she'd say. "Boy he's fat!" Irritated the beejeebers of me! The second time she said it, I said, "Yes, that;'s what you said last time he was on." The third time, I said, "You don't have to keep telling us that; we are watching the same show as you are." I gave up after she said, "Well don't YOU think he's fat?" I just said, like I've said to her before, "God has made and loves all kinds of people. God loves variety." For some reason that shuts her up!

The injection sites on my shoulders are still okay...just sore if you press against them. Otherwise I am not aware of them being there.

And earlier when I was walking down the stairs with Nannie's supper tray, she was standing up at the back door! I asked what she was up out of her chair for; did she need to go to the bathroom? No, she told me, "I was going to go out and see if I could find something to eat."  *[?]* I was holding her supper tray in my hand, so I told her to sit down and eat. If she starts doing this again it is time for the locks up at the top of the door.

I did remind hubby he has to call the investments guy and see if we can manage to get Nannie into St. Andrew's Nsg Home. SOMETHING has gotta give, and I don't care which of the denizens here goes away to somewhere else for a good number of weeks, no, MONTHS! But it would be a shame to waste $$$ sending hubby to rehab, only to have him fall/jump off the wagon again shortly after being sprung all anew, and aglow with the best bad health he's had in a while (just a 'lil sarcastic there.) and have to go back and do it all again ....which won't happen unless they give 'scholarships' for drunk to do the rehab-thing again and again.

Yaaahhh, this is quite enough for now! I'm going to read a while and then go to sleep.

She told me the longest story tonight that involved her simultaneously as a child, and adult, and a few of her family members were involved, as were a few of HER Nannie's boarders. There was an animal in her lap which she didn't like to be there. Her mother and something about cooking chicken, and the poison she had drunk, how it came out of the sides of her mouth and she had it all over her neck and chest, down to her knees. Some guy told her she understood what had happened but didn't know what to do about it, and told her of someone else had gone through the same thing and she could tell her how to clean it up......and my gawd, this went on for 45freakin'minutes before I turned the sound of the TV back on, and continued to watch the show she has so rudely high-jacked. But, at the very next commercial break when I hit the mute button, I'll be darned if she didn't pick up RIGHT where she'd left off---- this is a woman with Swiss Cheese for brains who often can't find any words to say what she's trying to say, and has to give up "Oh, I can't talk right now.", waving her hand in a gesture of dismissal.
