Hi nurses, my name is Jenni and I have just received an email from the UCLA New Grad Residency recruiters and I have my first interview for Mattel Children's and Santa Monica Peds on the 5/12. Can any past UCLA New Grads offer me any insight on the interview itself? What questions do they ask? This is my dream job and I want to nail it! Any tips would be really appreciated.

Not a UCLA new grad, but there no matter what the internet says, don't bring you mother or father to your job interview with you. Hospitals aren't that progressive yet.
Dress sharp.
Remove any out of the box piercings.
Cover visible tattoos.
Hair color should be a color that is real human color.
Any experience you have with kids is a real +. Highlight it.
You want to do this more than anything. When they ask you what do you plan to be in 5 years, tell them you see yourself in a leadership position in the unit like being charge, precepting, being on committees etc. If you are planning on booking in a couple of years for grad school keep it to yourself right now.
Learn specifics about the unit culture, awards, mission statement, projects. Google is your friend. Mention how impressive these things are in the interview and how you really want to be a part of it.

Hi Jenny!
Congrats on your interview for peds at UCLA! I will be interviewing this week for the PICU and was hoping you could offer some insight to the interview process? How was your first interview? What can I expect? I have never interviewed for a pediatric position so I am very nervous!
