Hey, I am a nursing student in my first semester of clinicals. I am looking to get a job this summer in a hospital or doctor's office to get some experience. I looked into Nurse Extern programs, and I don't have enough clinical experience for most of the ones that are close to me. I was wondering if anyone knew of any hospitals/doctor's offices or something similar that hires nursing students for the summer. Thanks!

No, I am a nursing student in my first semester of clinicals. That's why I am having such a hard time finding something, because I am no licensed.

Did you check Underwood Memorial Hospital in Woodbury? I don't know if they hire students just for the summer, but they do regularly hire students with one year of nursing school done as aides.

Hi, try Kessler memorial hospital in hammonton. I worked there as a CA during my first year of nursing school. Very friendly place, and they train well.

Kennedy hires extern's just for the summer I believe. I don't know if you are close to Philly but Thomas Jefferson hires externs after they have 1 med/surg rotation under their belt. Methodist also is South Philadelphia hires externs.

You can always try for a patient care tech or unit secretary. Secretaries aren't absolute direct patient care, but you still learn a lot about disease processes, MD orders and nurse responsibilities.
Thank you so much for the replies...I'm going to look into them. I appreciate your responses!
