hello everyone!
my name is Katie, and I am currently an undergrad junior student who was just accepted to a nursing program at my school :) I am extremely excited to begin my career as a nurse, and hope to one day become a CNM. I was wondering if any of you had any tips for obtaining an internship in the field, as I would love to have some experience while I have the whole summer free. I thought there would be plenty of opportunities but I am having trouble finding places that need interns. I have tried several hospitals and birthing centers. If you have any tips I would greatly appreciate them! I live in the NJ/NYC area.
Thanks!
Katie

Generally hospitals only offer internships to student nurse-midwives.
You might look into doing a volunteer doula program, where you can get experience with labor support and just becoming familiar with the whole childbirth process.
