Suffolk Community College Fall 2013 applicants

Published

Hey everyone, I didn't see a thread for the applicant pool for SCCC Fall 2013. I applied to the night program as my first choice and the day program as my second choice, at the Selden campus. I was wondering what program everyone else was applying to, and if anyone applied to any other schools. I also applied to Stony Brook's 2 year program for Fall 2013 entrance. Good luck to everybody. I can't wait until April/May to get those decision letters.

Not that Suffolk is a last resort school I just meant that obviously for me a bsn would be best.

The magnet care thing is spreading fast but a lot of hospitals will consider you for employment if you prove to be in school for your bsn while holding your Rn license with an associates degree. In my case, since I am already a CNA in a hospital, they told me they would transfer my position to an RN after graduating from sccc and pay for my bsn while I work for them. But everyone's situation is different. I agree going straight for your bsn is the best option especially if you aren't in a position like me. Pretty soon I am sure they will take away associates degree programs all together and people won't have the choice anymore.

Wow your job sounds like a dream. Congrats! I hope you take them up on that offer and get it in writing , it's very important !!! I made the mistake of being a CNA for a business that made too many of those promises and couldn't afford or accommodate for all the positions offered. There's still CNAs working at my place still waiting for RN jobs (about 6 months now) ;(

Hello everyone,

I heard that letters will be going out in the mail by the end of next month. Anyone else hear that or is it just a rumor??

I heard we wouldn't get them until late April/ early May.

ok that's what I thought, thanks.

Admissions told me that as well.

I applied for the Fall 2013 program as well. I had a meeting with an advisor before I applied to discuss my options. She had told me the benefits that weigh on your side and in your favor as they are deciding: 1. If you're in micro awaiting an answer, and they are deciding between you and one other person that doesn't have micro under their belt- they will take the micro student. 2. If you have taken A&P either I or II over again and have the same gpa as someone who only took it once, they will take the student that only have taken it once. 3. Last year they took the first 120 off the list with the last gpa at a 3.68. And took 25 people off the waiting list. She also mentioned people who have 4.0 gpa's in those courses and other classes are getting full rides to other 4 year schools, which is how they got 25 off the waiting list last year. Which she said when she was trying to leave me hopeful, saying that I still have a chance. My course grades are A&P I A A&P II A PSY101 B ENG 101 B+ With a final gpa of 3.64 Which is not that bad. She had told me I was right on the border. I'm in micro now (so hard by the way) and I didn't take any of those classes twice. But did anyone get a 3.6 and actually get in? I am wondering my chances at getting into this program. The waiting is killing me! I applied to the day Ammerman and day Grant as my second choice Any inputs from past, present, future applicants/students/applicants?

I have the same exact grades as you. My friend got in this past fall and had a 3.5.

I guess it just depends on the pool of people too. But thank you! Fingers crossed for everyone

It definitely depends on your pool of applicants but I had a 3.56 and I got accepted last year.
