Submitting for multiple licenses

New to travel nursing and would like to open more options for job. Currently I am only licensed in my home state (IL not a compact states unfortunately). My question is can I apply to multiple states at one time, or will having one pending license hold up another? I am just not sure where I want to go first and I know that some licenses can take 4-6 weeks to get and I would like to start in March. Any advice for a first time traveller would be great as far as location. I want to be near a big city but not necessarily directly in it. Also, not really wanted to head to the east coast. More west coast or south, but still need good pay because I have mortgage at home. Where pays well around that time? (Besides Cali a I know that license takes forrrever) Thanks!!

As long as you meet the requirements and pay the fees, you may apply for as many licenses as you like

California takes less than three weeks if you do it right. However, if you are not in a rush, I would suggest doing it later. The reason is that they do not electronically verify their licenses holders to other state BONs. That can cause a delay in getting other state licenses between the CA and the snail mail issues.

This applies most often in states where you have to verify all nursing licenses ever held. That includes both MA and NJ, both of which pay above average. Skip the south. Other than perhaps the DC metro area, none of them pay well and the working conditions are usually worse than the NE and West Coast.

So go ahead and try OR and WA! Refer to PanTravelers state board resource for fast details like how much a license costs, how long it takes, what licenses have to be verified, and annual CEUs required.

Thanks NedRN! Sonif I applied to WA and OR at the same time they wouldn't hold eachother up? Those are places on my bucket list

No problem applying concurrently.
