Studying in the UK or the US

As a senior in high school, I am now starting to apply to colleges in the hopes of becoming a pediatric nurse. Being born in England but raised in the US, i am not sure what country i want to study in yet. My number 1 choice right now is London South Bank University because of its affiliation with Great Ormond Street hospital.

My only problem is that if i were to return back the US i dont know if I would be qualified to practice here.

Does anyone know what process I would have to go through to be certified back in the States if i were to return after schooling in the UK?

    There are a few issues with you taking nursing in the uk. Although you are a British citizen you wouldn't meet the residency requirements to get funded place on nursing in the uk. You would have to speak to the university to see if they would take an international student. Plus you would have to take a branch if nursing such as child which would mean you will not meet the state board requirements in the USA when needing to register and will be lacking hours in maternity surgery mental health and medical.

    I guess you are aware that America trained nurses are general trained and UK are branch specific. So for example an adult nurse can't work on a paeds ward in the uk. If

    You want to return to america post training I would suggest training in the USA.

    Your best bet, for anyone, across the board, is to study nursing in the country in which you plan to practice nursing. There are significant differences in nursing educational and practice models around the world, and education and credentials do not necessarily translate easily among countries.

    For instance, as Gem already noted, there are difficulties for UK trained nurses attempting to get licensed in the US. Entirely different models of nursing education and practice.
