Hi everyone I recently took the Kaplan review course and my goal is to complete all the Qbanks and trainers prior to taking the exam. I'm sure somebody has posted about this before but I'm curious to know out of the trainers (1-7) QBank, and Qbank samples were the most helpful? I have heard that trainers 1-3 were content (below the line) type questions. But haven't heard as much for the others. And also for those of you who took Kaplan how did you go about studying rationales? I have a notebook that I take notes of rationales especially on the questions I get wrong. My kaplan instructor told me it was a waste of time but I always worry the topic will come up again and if it does that i'll get it wrong again. I know that i'll never know everything and kaplan is all about using strategies to find the answer even when you don't completely know everything about the topic.
My exam is in 3 weeks and I would really appreciate any tips/advice you guys can offer. Thanks and God Bless :)

Yes writting rational is time consuming but for me it was helpful. as far i have read on this blog 6 and 7 QT is more like nclex level question as they force you to think critically. U wll find a scedule on kaplan's lin which will guide you how to use kaplan resources i mean what to do first and what next
Thanks for the reply! My mistake I should have opened all the tabs I did end up finding the recommended study plan. I also find it helpful but when I look back thru my notebook its just pages and pages of scattered information and it can be overwhelming at times. But I guess it is a little bit more effective than just going back and reading random content
see it depends on your learning style if it is easy to remember the concept by reading only than there is no need to write . but as hurst review says. repeating again or teaching some one next to you will put that concept in your long term memory... so instead i write i dont have time to go though all those pages i have written but i realized that when i am doing questions related informations just pops in my mind from the questions i have done earlier... but its up to u every one is different and every one have different time to prepare :) good luck :) mine nclex is in 4 days :)

I studied the rationales and only wrote the ones I had no clue on. But to be honest, just repeating the rationale to myself and thinking about it helped me remember.
To be honest, ALL of Qbank and Qtrainers were helpful so be sure to do all of them [;
i dont have kaplan access.. i am from south asia and was graduated in july 2013... so although my content and concepts were strong i felt need to review content ... i am very slow reader so saunders was taking so long so i bought hurst review... i some what regret after buying... hurst is good but nothing new for me.... but i got q trainers kaplan online for free ... so far i have read and tried to understand all rationals.. the only thing i am worried about is i havnt solved that many questions i have hardly did 2000 :/ scared

Hi, i suggest since your exam is in 3 weeks to make a calendar and schedule your exams. Including all of the diagnostics/questions trainer 1-7/readiness
Take all your Qbanks in timed mode and you can divide your exams. I did 75Q exam twice a day. Then record your score to see how well you progress.
Take your Question Trainer 6 & 7 a week before your actual nclex exam. Thats what my Kaplan instructor told us. Since it resembled the nclex exam, and our instructor told us if you get 65% or higher on Qtrainer 7 its a 99% pass rate.
I recently posted here concerning Kaplan & Question trainers if you find my post you'd see how im doing. I'll be taking my exam very soon. So ive been on this website reading other peoples post :)
When will you take your exam?
Thank you so much for the tips/advice! How did you go about studying your rationales if you don't mind me asking? Did u write them in a notebook or just quickly read over the rationale and move on? I thought putting it in a notebook was helping me but it just takes me that much longer to go over the exams Goodluck on your exam I did see your post and I'm sure if u keep it up you'll pass no problem!
I just went through with the rationale's and i let it sink in. But if i dont understand something i would print out things i need to memorize. I had to print out the location of the heart tones, lab values, transmission precautions, milestones, location of the fetal heart tone & presentig part.
Writing it down would take a while, but is that what you did during nursing school? You know what they say, old habits die hard :)

Hi! I'm from SE Asia as well but now working in Chicago. Writing rationales is really a waste of time BUT will help you A LOT. I reviewed for 2 months. Every time I am done reading and understanding a certain chapter, I would take a practice exam after. Say, I'm done reading Respiratory System, I would answer 100-150 practice questions on that particular topic. I also write my rationales depending on topic (e.g. Cardiovascular System) so in that way I wouldn't have a hard time reviewing. For example, I would always get confused between high pressure and low pressure alarm on mech vent, I would just read the rationales under Respiratory System in my notebook. I also made a calendar to see how I am progressing. One friendly reminder too, get off on social media so you can focus on your review and you'll have no distractions. God bless and good luck on your exam!
Thank you for sharing! Thats a great way of organizing your notes (by system) I wish I thought of that sooner. And yes I'm a few weeks away so I'm logged off all my social media so if I do get tempted I have to re-type my password haha
