Study Tips

Published

These are some of the study tips that I have used:

1) Use other resources such as: Youtube, Khan Academy ...etc to help fill in the gaps between the book and lectures.

2) Record your lectures - You can re-listen to the lectures while driving or working out or just recapping what you might have missed.

3) Study while doing an activity, like walking or pacing, this may keep the boring subjects more interesting and in theory, get more oxygen to your brain.

4) Mnemonics, catchy rhythm, rhyming – This will help with memorizing, I used this a lot in Anatomy and Physiology (think the rapping professor).

5) Know the material well enough that you can teach someone. If you know the material well enough that you can teach another member of the class or someone at home, this will solidify your understanding.

6) Do not procrastinate – Memorizing large amounts of information at in a short time span will only hurt you. Some may say they work well under pressure, but when there is a lot of material that one needs to learn, it might make you panic rather than help.

7) Review new and old material

8) Reward yourself, this does not need to be big. When you reached a goal, no matter how small, reward yourself with something you enjoy, maybe a small snack or a small break. This will help re-motivate you.

9) Keep your mood and spirit up and don't get discouraged.
