I am in my second semester of nursing school and need help remembering how to take notes from reading. Our lecture doesn't help with the test. Everything is from a test bank. If anyone has any suggestions I would be most thankful.

My father and his partner (both professors) have written a whole series of study skills guides - here is a link to his college book (at the very bottom, the book alone is $35). I have used the book and it is wonderful - I have managed straight A's so far in A&P 1, 2 and Nursing Fundamentals. It tells you how to take effective notes, how to remember things, how to take tests, etc.
I'm not trying to post a sales pitch - I just know the book works.

I'm not good at taking notes from books either. However, check and see if there was a CD or website for your book. I found that some of the practice questions from the CDs and websites show up slightly altered on tests. Usually the CDs and websites have the information condensed or broken down into the major concepts so you can maybe skip the note taking from the book. Pay attention to things in charts and boxes--they tend to contain a lot of the information you need to know.

I would be interested in taking a look at this book :) Could you either post the link, or send it to me by pm? Thanks!!

Sorry, I meant to post the link:

It was written for teachers but anyone can use it. The book has individual worksheets and tips for each area.

S enior student hooked me onto using NCLEX books for studying. IT really helps, because there is no other place where I have found you can practice those "types" of questions. I have Saunder's NCLEX comprehemsive review. It helps.
