study guides

Does anyone have any recomendations of study guides or books that they had or wished they had known about during nursing school ?

i haven't started school yet, but i saw a lot of people mention the book Test Success: Test Taking Techniques for Beginning Nursing Students. It it by Patrica Nugent and Barbara Vitale. I bought it today and I have been scanning through it tonight and it looks REALLY helpful. It teaches you how to navigate multiple choice questions and kinda put you in NCLEX mode as far as reading and working through problems.

I love all of the Lippencott Review series. They have different ones for different courses. I don't care for the Lippencott Incredibly Easy series, it seems to simplify things TOO Much and does not prepare you for real test questions. I also like the Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN. The Saunders is required by my school many of our test questions are similar.

I also have test success:test taking skills for beginnign nursing students and I agree.. It's very useful. I like how they break down answering nclex style test questions. I also bought Dosage Calculations Made Easy because I hate math and it's very helpful. I plan on getting the rest of the Made Easy books later..as I go along in the program.
