Student from US in search of a Nursing school in Philipines.

Published

I've been lurking around this website & I find it quite useful.

Hello! My name is subzer0. I'm here to inquire about Nursing schools in the Philippines. I already finished my General Education here in the US & I plan to pursue my studies in the Philippines. And I'm looking for a school that will credit my subjects I took here in the US and preferably a school that offers trisemester or 4semester as long as I finish my nursing degree hastily(2-3yrs) in the Philippines. Location preferably in Manila. What school would you recommend?

So far I inquired about UST & I was told that they may credit my subjects I took already in the US & they wanted me to start as a freshman which is not doable for me. As for citizenship, i will have no problems per se since I'm already a dual citizen. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Any help??????

bump bump... no one?

Hi.

The thing is, there are very few good schools that will accept or credit your subjects. Most of them will ask you to be a freshman again. AND, you'll gonna have a hard time finishing the BSN degree on just 3 years (given you opted to retake all your subjects) Of course there are exceptions, too. (and don't quote me for this since your case maybe different from what I know esp. you are from the US). I know Philippine Women's University is accepting transferees and will credit your subjects, and at the same time it's trimester. Actually you can try searching at different colleges and universities in Manila that offer nursing, but don't waste your time on UP, UERM, Trinity, UST, CEU, FEU, St. Paul's, because as far as I know, they are not crediting subjects.

Finally, someone has posted. :) True that. I could finish my BSN program here approx 27mos. But I opted out, I want to finish my studies in the Philippines since its much cheaper and I get to stay with my girlfriend. :)

As for schools I tend to agree most will ask me to start from scratch again which is highly not doable for me.

As far as I'm concern, all I care is to get a diploma so I can be eligible to take the NCLEX. And of course, with a decent school. By any chance, have you heard of the school Kester Grant College? Any feedbacks?

Thanks I appreciate your response.

Yes, I think it is located along Quezon Ave. But its reputation is not very established.

As a general rule, since your only goal is to have a diploma that will enable you to take the NCLEX, look for a school that is granted a permit by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and ask the school directly if anyone from the school already passed the NCLEX. In that way, you know the school is legitimate and NCLEX processing maybe smoother since that school already has a record in the US.

Thanks. I'm looking for a school that'll accept my credits like anatomy, physio, micro, pscych & biology.

The thing is the curriculum here in California is that, as long as you have High School chemistry, you don't have to take the CHEM class in here. Damn, i think i may have to take chem class in there.

Any schools you know? Perpetual Help near UST, is that a great school? I know for a fact it is not as good as UST. Whats important for me is to finish my schooling as fast as I can preferably in Manila area.

Perpetual Help College. Some of my friends continued their studies there. And most of them passed the Philippine RN exam. Yeah, you are right, it's not as great as UST, but I think its good enough to produce good nurses.

Yeah, chemistry is a must. I don't know about the other school, but on ours, we also have to take biochemistry.

I sent u a pm, bro.

Try New England College, 40 Quezon avenue Quezon city. nec.edu.ph Their website Ain't updated though

I am one of their product. When I was studying there I had classmates who were from California and other states who were already LPN's and finishing their BSN degree at the College. Their Lectures were all pure online and the time that I got to be classmates with them were during our clinical exposures. The students from CA and other states were all given full credits for the courses (subjects) that they took in the US. I think the current group of foreign students are at Batch 5.

Some of the students were US army and navy nurses. :yeah:

International students outnumber the local students at the school.

I graduated and reviewed at NEC for my local NLE and I am proud that I made it with flying colors. By the way, I was an international student in the US - (NY) studying a different major , NEC credited all of my subjects, plus they allowed me to fully load on subjects as long as I sign a waiver. The waiver is for you to agree that yes you advanced a subject while taking the prerequisite subject, but if you fail the prerequisite then you fail the advanced subject as well. So, if you want to finish your NSG education ASAP, then I guess it is doable but sacrifice on your social life is a must.
