Questions to ask the dean?

Nursing Students SRNA

I am wondering if anyone has any good questions to ask a Dean of the CRNA program....

When I was talking to the lady that handles all the application material, she mentioned that if I would like to meet with the Dean, that I could. I would like to, just to put a face to the name on the application, at least a little bit. Just wondered if anyone had suggestions for questions to ask about the program? I'm thinking about asking about clinical sites, what she thinks the best part of the program is, etc.

Any one have any additional input I should be thinking about/asking?

My advice would be to only ask true questions. Don't make a list just to ask questions. Sure, ask about things that you would like more information about, but not just to fill the time.

I guess my thing is, since I'm not in school yet, that there are things I SHOULD be asking that I don't know about or know enough yet to ask.

That makes sense. You should ask about attrition rate for students. Ask about where clinical sites are located, and how clinical sites are assigned. Ask if you will work with CRNAs that are not medically directed at some clinical sites. Ask about ultrasound and regional anesthesia experience.

You want/need to know to the following things from all the programs:

1) Are you competing with residents for cases during clinical?

2) How much regional experience does the average student get throughout the program? After the they discuss their numbers you should follow up with a question regarding the quality of the experience. Are this numbers all hands on in practice or are some of them reflective of lab/simulation/direct observation?

3) how many cardiac cases does the average student graduate with?

4) how many clinical sites do they have? Will you have to travel/ relocate for a a month or two to participate in a clinical site? Pretty common for a student to move temporarily to fulfill a clinical. My friends and I are all in different programs and we will all have to travel at some point during school to do clinicals.
