I am applying for CRNA school and I am trying to tailor my resume. I have 5 years of ICU experience (Burn ICU and Surgical ICU) and need some guidance deciding what sort of responsibilities/knowledge/experience in general will help me to stand out as an applicant. Does anyone have experience they could share?

On my resume I commented a lot on my charge experience, precepting experience, and drips/ventilator/invasive line experience. I got in to my top choice school and turned down an interview at the only other school I applied to, but I wasn't told specifically if this is was why I was accepted. Hope this helps even a little.

You got to kinda pick and choose your words carefully. I said something like 'management of invasive monitoring lines, swans, ECMO, IABP etc.'

'collaborated is another good word to use.'

idk word like that are what you should use (at least it's what I used and it worked). Hope that helps.

Also, make sure to mention any committees you are in/publications you have contributed to. they like to see well rounded candidates

I had someone help me with my resume. Where I graduated with my RN, I have a lifetime of free resume help so I took advantage. If you live near the college you graduated, look into their career help services. It should be free to everyone who graduated from there.

If that is not available, I would hire someone to help you with your résumé. I never would have had mine look and sound as good as it does without help! Totally worth it.

Specifics about the ICU - how many beds, what types of patients (SICU, MICU, Neuro, Trauma...), charge nurse, preceptor? Any special patient population (fresh hearts, transplant, ECMO, IABP)? Special projects or initiatives for your unit?

Publications, ACLS, PALs, other certifications. Volunteer organizations, nursing

honor society.

Overal GPA and then break down into Science and nursing GPAs.

Everyone expects you to have worked with ventilated patients, basic invasive lines and drips. It's a little redundant to put that in your resume as well. It should be a 1 page quick overview, cheat sheet for the interview process.
