Hey guys, I'm looking for some insight on my chances of becoming a CRNA. I am currently in my last year of an ADN program, and plan to start my Rn to Bsn online soon after I graduate. My ADN program is very difficult.... My class consists of 50 students, and in the beginning of the program we were informed that we were the most competitive class that the school had ever admitted. Despite being the most competitive class, there have only been 11 A's on test this far. My current overall GPA is a 3.1, science GPA is a 3.45.

I would like to think that I could pull up my GPA by doing well in my RN to BSN program, but I have over 90 credit hours already, so it is unlikely to change it much.

So my question is do I have a chance? Or should I look at other career options? I would really like to hear from current CRNA's or SRNA's.

Getting into a CRNA program is more than just looking at the science GPA. They also take into account your nursing GPA, where you BSN is from, GRE scores, what type of ICU you have worked in (how long, charge nurse?), papers and publications, certifications, special projects, medical volunteer work, and recommendations.

What at you need to ask yourself is - do I want to become a CRNA? There are ways to overcome lower undergrad GPAs, you just have to put in the work to shine in other places.

Thanks for your reply. I am very much willing to do whatever it takes, what worries me though is that I will finish nursing school with a 3.0. I have assumed that I will be working for 2-3 years in the ICU, and I plan on studying for the GRE for several months before I take it. However the fact that people with a 4.0 prior to my ADN program can't get any A's really worries me 😟 I'm going to give it everything I have and see where I come out. My first choice school would be FSU Panama City (used to be the Gooding institute). It is only about 10 minutes from my home, and I'm wondering if they might be familiar with how difficult my ADN program is because of its proximity??

I would just email the director of the program. I contacted the program director for GTown (where I ended up going) before I took my ICU job. They pointed me in the direction of an ICU that they thought would give me a better learning experience and it paid off.

Write them an email, schedule a meeting, bring your transcripts and ask them questions- what would they recommend for a good place for you to get your BSN, where should you work nearby that would help make you a strong candidate.

HI, You need to change your username. In the TOS, it clearly states:

Members cannot call themselves by professional titles, if they do not hold that title. ie. "doctor, Dr.,

Why is it so hard to even find a facility that allows "shadowing" a CRNA?
