Adventist University CRNA 2018 Start

Nursing Students SRNA

Hello!

I've started my adventure of pursuit in acceptance to a CRNA program. I've applied to numerous schools a few months ago, one of which is Adventist University of Health Sciences in Orlando. However, I was suprised there wasn't a thread on a 2018 start date yet...so here I am. haha Has anyone else applied yet? I was a little bummed they extended their application deadline to July because I can't handle the anticipation, and a lot of schools start things earlier. I'm also anxiously waiting to see if they get the full doctorate program acceptance for this next year/start date. Best of luck to everyone!

Congrats everyone! So excited for all of us; mr112w, great idea! That'll be easy to keep in touch and bounce questions or tips off each other while getting ready for this big chapter in our lives. Let us know the name of the group whenever established :-)

Hi guys, Congratulations! I'd like to follow your journey on FB as I plan to apply in the next year or two :)

Hey Skyberry, that's awesome! Best of luck! I would recommend just asking question on new and old threads on here. You should start your own thread even for others that are thinking about applying soon too! The class fb page will probably be limited to just those in the program because it'll be irrelevant info for your journey, just organizing study groups or how much coffee we've drank in a day haha

Hey everyone,

Facebook group name is "ADU CRNA Class of 2021"

Hope to meet you all there !

Hey all new group page name is "ADU NAP Class of 2021"

Hi everyone! I work at FHO in the ED so as you may or may not know, it's very busy with a high acuity. I've been there three years, one as a tech and two as an RN. I want to attend ADU's CRNA school so I plan to get some CVICU experience first to be a competitive candidate. Did you all shadow a CRNA before applying? Should I just contact the OR to see if they'll set up a shadow day? How many hours did you do? How was the interview process, what kind of clinical scenarios did they ask in addition to the one person that posted some of the questions? Thanks, congrats to you all!

I would definitely get some ICU experience. ED you do what you need and then transfer them. I think they like to see more long term care, starting drips over the shift, therapies like crrt and surgical recovery and such, so good idea to check out cvicu. If you check out the application, it is required to shadow a crna. Fl Hosp hires out through an anesthesia group so you'd contact them not the actual OR. You'll meet a lot once you get out of ED can contact through them as well. The interview varied between people, but they were really good about your area of expertise and what you should know. Like a cardiac trained icu nurse wasn't getting crazy scenarios about increased icp, neuro stuff. Good luck!

Hi Everyone, fellow applicant here. congratulations to those who were accepted. i know this thread is older but i wanted to hear back from a few of you who interviewed to maybe get some perspective on the interview itself (questions asked if you remember any, length of interview and if it was more clinical based or personal based) for anyone who accepted a seat i'd love to hear from you on how well you believe the program is doing in terms of helping you understand clinical concepts and transition from the classroom to the clinical environment. any and all advice or feedback (positive or negative) is welcomed and appreciated. thank you in advance. you can private message me if you feel more comfortable

Can someone share some light as to what class schedules look like for the first trimester & second? For example, class days/times/ Thank you!

First semester Monday through Thursday, pharm, assessment, patho, anatomy and physiology, intro to anesthesia. All really heavy classes. Second Monday through Friday, pharm 2, anesthesia basics, anesthesia equipment, research, and religions with clinical observations mixed in, even on test days, site tours at night, and a lot of labs. It's worth it though, so don't stress! í ½í¸Š

With regards to ppl asking about interviews, everyones was different, just prepare for how bad you want this, and all I'll say is they are very fair to your experience, cardiac icu wasn't getting asked about neuro and icp scenarios. It was a really great experiences compared to other processes I went through

THANK YOU Levo!

Also, at what times do you start and end classes? For example, do you start at 7am until like 4pm?

Do you find yourself being able to manage even a PRN job? If so, like overnights/weekends?
