Student Nurses Association slogan: need ideas!!!

Nursing Students General Students

Hi! A classmate and I are running for President & Vice President of our local Student Nurses Association and would like to come up with a catchy slogan for our campaign posters! I'm really at a loss for ideas! I'd appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions!!!

:rotfl: your kidding right...campaign posters.

They had to beg me to be vice-president and our president didn't know we were nominating her.

Not laughing at you, just surprised to here so much hype about a club election...

"I got the poo on me!!" (Joe Dirt)

Dave: Personally, I dont see what's so funny......the Student Nurses Association is a pre-professional organization. I'm very proud of all that we do for our community................it isn't just "a club" as you put it!

If all you can do is make fun......then please don't reply!!!

I am not making fun of your association.

1. I am, as I mentioned the vice president of our local SNA chapter.

2. I am a National SNA member.

3. I am the Hudson Valley Regional Director and Associate Publisher of our Newsletter for the New York State Student Nurses ASssociation.

4. I have attended the National SNA Conference last year in both Daytona and Salt LAke City and am schedule to go to Kentucky in November 2005.

5. I run our local SNA's Blood Drive and Blood Pressure screenings.

I never made fun. If you read my post it says that I can not believe you need posters to get elected. We need to beg people to take these posiitons and then do the job properly.

And while I am proud to be a member of the SNA which is a pre-professional association, if you look at your SNA charter at your College it is classified as a club. Nothing more and nothing less. It is one of my irritations that the SNA is considerd the same as the Gardening Club or the In and Out Club (which represents gay and lesbian students) in the eyes of our school when we actually do a lot for the community, and contribute on a State and National Level in our Nursing cause. (and before I get attacked, I love gardening and am not knocking gay and lesbian students, clearly pointing out an obvious difference in the purpose of our clubs).

Perhaps you need to re-read my post and laugh with me...I was not laughing at you as much as you may think.

By the way...good luck in your SNA endevours. It has opened many doors for me in both my schooling and future career options.

Once again, good luck and have a great semester, dave :)

Sorry if I over-reacted; it was a long day!

Here's the lowdown. I'm a student at Hospital Affiliated 2 year RN program. Last year; my classmate and I were the only 2 students (out of abour 300) who faithfully attended meetings. I was actually the Secretary. We worked very hard over the summer to come up with goals for the current year--as the people in the Pres & VP position were 2nd year students who were more worried about just having their name attached to a title. We got absolutely nothing done.

Anyhoo--The incoming class is about 300 students; of whom I know one personally. I'm not sure how we can expect students to vote for people that they don't even know--that's why we came up with this "Meet the Candidates" meeting to let everyone know who we are and what we can bring to the SNA. My biggest fear is that a first year student will get elected Pres or VP and then totally ignore all the work we've done and have it end up a fiasco like last year. Like I said before---last year we basically had meetings with lots of discussion but very little got accomplished.

I've decided to run for VP this year. If I don't get it--so be it. There are alot of other committees that I could contribute to. I guess I'm just so defensive because I know what the organization was when I first began and what we've made of it.

I agree with you; our organization doesn't get near the recognition that it deserves. My classmate and I are hoping to change that this year--hence the new motto "RHSNA: A Force to be Recognized".

Again--I apologize for being so defensive!

What we do for the new students is run a "Meet and Greet" Night. It takes about an hour and we make it mandatory through the school of Nursing to fulfill one clinical requirement for the semester. They do not have to attend this meeting just one of them. Most come to this first meeting since they are very excited to get started.

We introduce them to the officers, and the SNA. A few professors show up and get an intro as well. For the last two semesters I have given a very thorough introduction to the program and there requirements for their first semester. I talk about lectures, drugs, exams, clinicals, skills tests, uniforms, assessments, cultural papers. If they have to do it in their first semester I cover it. It is a very well recieved program. I wish they did it when I started.

Anyway, it helps introduce us to them and them to us as upper classman and helps to recruit new members.

Maybe something like this would work for you...

By the way, no need to apologize. We are all here to help each other and sift through each others bad days, bad moods and sarcasm...

Have a great long weekend, dave :)

You could dres up like vampire nurses and run around saying "I vaunt to draw your blood!" :chuckle

I like, "Not only am I perfect, but I am a nursing student too!" :)

Wow---you have some great ideas for your Meet and Greet night. Thanks for the info; I'll see how I can incorporate some of those ideas into our meetings.

As for running for VP; I'm not so stressed out about it anymore. Seeing how I'm the only officer left from last years organization......I think my dedication speaks for itself! Plus, I've just been trying to get myself out there and become aquainted with some of the new students. If I don't get elected atleast I will have established some valuable friendships! Besides, there are lots of other committees that I'm sure I could contribute to also.

Thanks again for your support; I'll let you know what happens!

Enjoy your holiday weekend too. I'm not sure exactly where you are; but it's going to be beautiful here in Pa!
