Hi, I'd like to know if is possible to take part as student nurse in volunteer programs abroad (health programs)?

My sister did but it was coordinated by her school of nursing & international studies department. The organization required the nursing students to work under direct supervision of licensed nurses approved by the government. The nursing & international studies dept worked with the organization and foreign government to obtain visiting credentials for the nursing professors & clinical instructors. All students were responsible to pay for the visa, passport, and travel fees. The organization negotiated lodging & food. The nursing department negotiated reduced costs for the required vaccines. I know she went to South America but I don't recall exactly which country. She has gone both as a student and as a nursing school professor as they were working in her now specialty. It would be difficult to go on such a venture independently and expect to work in the capacity of a nursing student.

My university does medical brigades in Honduras and Panama I know we have students from other Unis attending too. So check out Global Brigades | Global Brigades and look for chapters near you or get a faculty and a doctor to help you start one! Good luck!
