student nurse wanting to move to canada

Published

hello,

I am currently doing an adult nursing bachelors degree in United kingdom. I am currently applying for visas and was looking at the work permit visa. I will not be registered in the uk until late september and i understand I have to be registered here before i can start the registration process for canada. My boyfriend is applying for a visa as well he is a tree surgeon and has an offer of a job already which makes it easier for him. Hoping to move in november. my main questions are can i start the registration process now for canada before i qualify as an RN here to speed things up? also what are my chances of getting a work permit without a job going over as I cant see me having my registration sorted before hand as it is such a long process? I am a healthcare assistant for 9yrs, dont know if this will stand to me? any advice will be much appreciated, so stressed over it all!!!!!!!!!

You will need to contact the college of nurses in the province in which you wish to work. You will need to meet their requirements before being granted permission to write the CRNE.Be aware that Canadian nurses are generalist trained and you will need theory and clinical hours in adult, peds, maternity and mental health.

No you can not start application until you are graduated from nursing. Also be aware Canadian nursing is general and hours both clinical and theory will be required on your transcripts in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult. I doubt although not 100% sure that you can get a work permit based on your boyfriend's permit however if you have lived together for over 12 moths you should be able to join him as partner but this will not give you permission to work. Getting a job, well that will depend on type of job, if nursing then employers will want to see that you have either eligibility to sit CRNE or have sat CRNE and passed.
