I've read a lot on this message board about student nurses being recruited by hospitals and offered tuition reimbursement, etc. very early in their nursing education. I was just curious about Michigan hospitals...are there any that do this BEFORE, say, your last year in school? I've seen some that offer to pay for your last year, but nothing more.

I am in my first 6 weeks of nursing school at Macmb Community College and have not been approached. If and when I do, I will let you know.

I've heard you can actively contact hospitals as well and let them know you are already in school. Then you can ask them if they have any contracts available that will pay for tuition. You then would have to sign a contract that you will stay with that hospital for x amount of years.
I also would like to know if anyone in the Detroit are has actually went this route.
I know a family friend that said she was contacted near the time she was almost done by some hospitals. I'm going to call her and find out more details...
Well, I spoke with my friend and she said that it was not a surge of hospitals coming to you out of the blue. She said during the course of her program at Macomb, St. John's came to the school on 3 separate occasions to recruit nurses. She was also approached by the hiring managers at all of her clinical locations.
