  1. Always worth it (unless it's covered with insurance) to go to your county health department for these shots. Even when I went to a doctor, I mentioned I was in school and received those shots at a cheaper cost than usual.
  2. I feel your pain, especially the Mr. X part. Snakes in the grass. Good luck to you in school. One more year to go!
  3. Hi Jenniek, How did you like this program?
  4. Here are a couple: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/csen-anesthesia-mailing-list/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ClinicalAnesthesia/
  5. I agree with what you said about the kind of marriage you have before you start. One thing that has come out in conversation after the divorce is that she "felt like a loser because I was doing everything". Her words. We did have an understanding before school. We talked about ad naseum during initial research, during prereqs, after acceptance into the program. That took about 2 years, and during none of that time was the above quote even disclosed. I agree it's probably for the best that my marriage is over, but I miss being a family with our 3 kids.
  6. Sounds like you need to move. Seriously, where do you work? With that much experience you should be making a tidy sum. Plus, you could do travel nursing and make some serious money. I applaud your years of experience, but if you think you're not making what you should, you should take that experience elsewhere.
  7. Start of the program.
  8. I'm not sure sure which one she was talking about (it was Marilyn that said it BTW). Yeah, they are definitely characters, in a good way. :)
  9. Hi Jenny! Good to hear from you! Sounds like everything is going well for you. Just restarted myself..went through a divorce so I'm at psych now. So I won't be done now until May of next year. :angryfire My teacher was referring to the midway HESI, not the exit one. We'll be taking that one at the end of these 8 weeks. Where are you working now? I'm still unsure of which hospital I want to work at here..may end up moving out of state after I'm done. Congrats on being done and the NCLEX!!! :balloons: Alex
  10. Hi Corvette Guy, Thanks for the info. I didn't understand #4. Are you saying no or yes to this? Thanks.
  11. Hi guys, I have a couple of questions about the Army Reserve program and a few other items: 1. To clarify, do you go in as a 1LT with ADN, and Major with BSN? 2. If you go in with the ADN, do you get promoted to Major once you complete your BSN? Is it better to wait until you complete the BSN before signing up? 3. Does your active duty time count towards retirement? I have served 2 years in the Army (Airborne) and 6 in the Navy (Electronics Technician). Yeah, I had to go to 2 different bootcamps.. 4. Since I've already served 6 years AD in the Navy, will they waive the 34 year old limit if I decide to go in to the Naval Reserve? I'm still leaning heavily towards Army Reserve, but I was just curious. Thanks for your time.
  12. This definitely was mentioned on more than one occasion, as well as deep sighing during study sessions done over the phone. Very frustrating when not based on reality.
  13. While you make some great points, there are a lot of underlying issues that seem to come up when you decide to take on something like nursing school that may not have surfaced before. For me, I was working full time and going to school full time, so when I was home I needed to study. I did not have that much free time, and sleeping needed to happen at some point. I was also looking at the fact that if this wasn't going to work now, graduate school was entirely out of the question. This is a very hard pill to swallow if you start thinking that your spouse does not want you to better yourself or the family, as you stated. That said, I would have stopped nursing school sooner if I knew this was going to be what was going to happen to my marriage. Since it's a moot point now, I am going to make the best out of a bad situation and finish school and continue on to my end goals.
  14. Friend of mine is starting at $25/hr at Providence in Southfield. She'll be graduating in October of this year.
  15. Well, my wife of 12 years couldn't handle it. So we are currently getting divorced. Had to stop school for a semester because of it, so that added to the bad news as well. It is extremely stressful, especially when you're focused so much on school that you "disconnect" from your family without being aware of it. Good luck.
