I will be finishing my first clinical next month and would like to give my preceptor a gift. I'm planning on sending the whole practice an edible arrangement, but want to give him something personally, since he was my preceptor and hardly ever eats the food drug reps, etc. bring.
Any suggestions? I'm at a loss...I know he is really into guns, politics, and coffee, and hates non-medical reading lol. I don't think he drinks from chains though, so I'm not sure anything like a Starbucks gift card, and it sounds like he has any gun accessory you possibly could already. What are gifts that y'all have given preceptors(or received, if you are one) that you found memorable?

Hmm..have you heard him mention anything specific from the three major groups you mentioned? Would he like a one year gift subscription to Gun Digest? Is he a gourmet coffee aficionado, and would he appreciate a subscription to a gourmet coffee of the month club? I know I overheard my intensive practicum preceptor mention she wanted to get certified in psych nursing, so I bought her the review guide for the exam as an end of term gift because I knew she really couldn't afford it at the time. Just listen carefully to little tid bits in passing and you'll think of something :)
Those are good suggestions! I think I might also try to talk with his MA next week(or soon) in private if I can. They have known each other for a really long time and are very tight knit. Maybe she would have some suggestions!
Thanks!

I shop online for a lot of my gun accessories. A gift certificate to one of those sites would allow him to choose whatever he wants. I have always given things like engraved pens etc. but the other ideas are more interesting.
