Lived in NYC once, a very long time ago; not familiar w/ current practices in your area. (I'm assuming you're in NS in NYC area.)
Sometimes, student nurse externships are listed on-line as if they were regular job openings--i.e., find a hospital you're interested in, look up their HR job openings, on-line, & poke & browse around.
Actually, I would say, poke & browse around--and ASK, ASK, ASK, everywhere & from everywhom you can think of.
Hope this generates some ideas, some approaches.

In my area externships (which are for students - internships are for people who have graduated nursing school and are getting training for their first job) are not listed on the websites, and are mostly discovered by calling HR and asking if they have any. They can be hard to find right now, but don't let that discourage you. Good luck!
