student needing suggestions

I am a student in an online master's program. The instructor deducted points from last's week discussion board because she said I had not answered her questions. She had asked 2 questions in about my initial post. I did answer her the best I could. So I emailed her and said that I had answered, though maybe I had not given the answer she needed, and that I would try to be more specific next time. Her reply was short, just to tell me to sign my emails as instructed. I didn't know I was to sign them any certain way. Knowing she has many students, I had put my full name and the specific course I am in. Now I am not sure what to do b/c it feels like I have made her angry. She seemed snappy that last time I "spoke" with her. I am afraid to email again for any reason. Any suggestions? Maybe she is just tired.

I can relate!!! I finished my masters in nursing ed a couple years ago and this happened to me on more than one occasion. The posting rules and regs are very strict at Phoenix and it took me a few responses like that to get the hang of it. Ask her/him specifically what was wrong with the post and read your student handbook to make sure you didn't miss something. Posts were time specific as well as content specific. Also when I posted I had to be careful to 'post to the correct thread'. In otherwords respond to the appropriate question and not move from post to post where they couldn't find them. Online programs are HARD but I really value my degree there because it improved my communication skills immensely...and not just on-line! Hang in there, and don't forget we're here for ya!:yeah:

Explain to me, if you will, how she emoted an "angry" response. Did she use the :angryfire smiley?

I hope you appreciate the humor in my reply, and understnad where I am coming from. Don't look into it too much. You know in the online world, that there is no specific emotion key (unless she typed in bold or caps, which would be highly unprofessional).

You should not feel uncomfortable in e-mailing her, especially if face-to-face is not an option (as I assuming is the case).

Are you friendly with any of your classmates? Perhaps you could inquire with one, to see how they answered the question.
