Student Loans

I first started out trying to go to Rn school and I collected 20,000 of student loans debt. I was so upset when I did not pass my classes. Now I am in lpn school and passing. I will be graduating in May and I have to start paying about $220 a month. Honestly I am worried I want to go back to get my Rn degree but I dont want anymore debt. Is anybody going through this similar situation and how did they pay off there debt?

Hi, What school will you be graduating from? I'm also in a LPN nursing school, and I'm just 2,000 in debt. Do you live in Michigan? First, if I was you, I'll try to focus on getting my license, then a good job, then pay little on your bills as little as possible due to ecomony. hfccdnd

I want to eventually be a nurse practitioner. I chose to get my LPN (graduated in December) so that I can work as an LPN while I do my ADN (begin a regular, 4-semester ADN next week), then work as an ADN while doing BSN, then finally BSN while getting my MSN. I used financial aid for my LPN program, plus used some of that for living expenses. I wanted to maintain a high GPA, so didn't want to work during the LPN. Ironically, I hear that the LPN program is more intensive time-wise than any other of the programs. Most of my ADN program offers online classes, and there are a lot of ADN-BSN online options, so I hope to work full-time and go to school then. For now, since I haven't taken the NCLEX-PN yet, I'm getting financial aid for my first semester RN. My second semester will be the last one I'm qualified for state financial aid for 2-year college credits, so I'll need to pay for the last two semesters anyway. It's a priority of mine not to be in a lot of debt.

The lpn school that I am attended is not expensive at all. I am paying out of pocket I have sent close to $2000. The $20,000 was me going to Rn school. Well I guess when I go back to Rn school I will have my pre-reqs and pay out of pocket so I won't collect anymore debt.

No way out of Student Loans, not even Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. But if you go back, they will suspend payment until 6 months after you get out. They work with you very well. Don't sweat the details. Good luck.
