Student Loans

How long did you go to school, and how much money did you owe in student loans?

ADN program...All of my Gen Ed classes transferred from a previous degree. Only had to take CNA class, A&P I and II, Micro and the nursing classes. Thankfully, between tuition reimbursement at work and the fact that Hubby did well at work , I came out debt free.

Took me 3.5 years but one summer I went to summer school to get ahead by taking microbiology and physiology and statistics. I took a scholarship with my local hospital but I am fixing to start working for them so I don't have to pay that back. I did take out loans for things like my laptop I have had throughout my education. I lived at home for college and commuted 45 min. to get to school so I took out extra money for gas. I think I have around 10,000 dollars of debt in loans....and I have 12 years to pay it back. Monthly payments are around 100 so that's not too bad.

I wish tuition was low enough where students could still do that. I work 40 hours a week during nursing school, have had grants and scholarships, but still have had to take out massive loans to pay for tuition.

I think about how much I made as a CNA-I believe I topped out at $3.35/hour.

I looked at the current tuition at the school I attended and with tuition, fees, books, etc (not including room and board)It would be $36,000 for four years.
