Stuck..AP Related

Published

I'm not really sure what to do right now, as I am really stressed out about AP. I'm doing great in Micro, but just cannot seem to catch a break in AP. I took an exam on Monday, and I felt really really good about it(got a 92 on our first exam). Low and behold, I got a 77. This has dropped my average from 95, to 90. I'm completely shocked. I spend so many hours studying, constantly, and I'm always doing something school related. Homework, studying, flash cards, writing, drawing, watching something in relation, etc. I don't know why it's not working. :(

Advice, please?

Thank you! I definitely read aloud, write flash cards, and try to make my own little pictures of the information. However I didn't even think about how I'm wasting my time writing on my notebook because you're right - I kill myself writing what's on the PowerPoint.

Some people like writing flashcards. I like them too, but they seriously waste my time, especially when you can go on Quizlet.com and see cards already made. I also use to make outlines over my chapters, but there again...it wastes my time. Sometimes I search for pre made outlines in google or the publisher's website. You'd be surprised how much you can find that will help you study! Simply reading and noting on my PPT notes gives me time to study for other classes. Good luck to you:)

Thank you! Yeah, today I utilized my class time a little differently. When she spoke about things, and tried to simplify them, I wrote that down instead of the powerpoint. I have access to the powerpoint at all times, and there's no need to rewrite it. Flash cards are definitely my mode of studying, but quizlet isn't always helpful. Sometimes it works, but having the cards physically in front of me helps a lot more. The combination of the two is GREAT though. :) I also found a version of the publishers website that helps with both.

Now I'm wondering, do you have any advice for the cat muscles? I've got part down, but they are just so vastly different from the human muscles, that it's kind of overwhelming!

I'm glad you're finding an efficient studying strategy! Yes you have to beware of some quiz let cards LOL! As for the cat muscles, I have no advice. Sorry:( We never got into cats. If you ask a specific question on here, I'm sure someone else can assist you:)

Honestly, I know you mentioned that you're tired of making flashcards, but that is how I learned my cat - and I got A's on my practicals. Our teacher gave us color photos of a dissected cat (15+ pages) so I'd have one page that was labeled and one blank - like a full page flashcard. Our online mastering program (PAL 3.0) had some great photos as well. Try looking online for some labeled pics. I tried taking pictures of my actual cat but they came out looking like gray blobs and I couldn't differentiate between each muscle! I learned by repetition - just going through each flashcard over and over and over til it stuck. After I learned them, I went over my cat in lab. Get a partner to quiz you as he/she points at each muscle. Also, I found some great "walk-through" videos on youtube.

I know it seems impossible right now, but you can do it! Just keep studying - it's all repetition repetition repetition! Good luck :)
