Hello All,

I'm currently a CNA that has just had a baby. I very intersted in be coming a registerd nurse. But, I have to take my time.. Im thinking about starting the LVN program at either Casa Loma or American Career Colleges.

Are there any nurses that have went through the schools and can you offer any advise when it comes to their sucess rate, child care, and job placment stats??

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I completed the LVN program at Casa Loma College in Van Nuys last year. Their NCLEX success rate was 84 percent for the Van Nuys campus and 92 percent for the Hawthorne campus. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the so-called 'success rate' because much of your learning will occur at home. The full-time program is very fast-paced and pricey at $19,995 per year.

To my knowledge, Casa Loma College did not offer childcare. There were many mothers of young children who attended the school, and they all had to arrange for babysitting services on their own time.

I moved to Texas 1 month after completing the program, so I don't know about their job placement statistics. However, the job placement advisor was unaware I had moved away from Southern California and had left several voice messages on my cell phone about job openings for new grads.

I graduated from the VN program at Casa Loma about 9 years ago. It was wonderful. You can find pass rates for both programs posted on the board's site. I am a big fan of Casa Loma. You can PM me if more info is needed.
