Struggling to find a job

Nurses New Nurse

Okay, I am looking for any help here...I have been applying to jobs since the end of March until now. I just recently graduated with a BSN from Hartwick College and am still currently awaiting at least an interview. HR is never helpful when I make follow up phone calls and I don't know what else to do. Does anybody have any advice? Any nurse recruiter numbers or anything? I am very discouraged in finding a job right now :(

you are not alone..

same here

This seems to be the case anywhere you live (I'm in Denver, Co,). My advice to you is keep all doors open even if it's not where you expected yourself to end up. I am a new nurse myself and am exhausting every avenue just to get the experience that so many positions require. I just recently took a home health care position for just that, the experience. They have a lot of peripheral IV starts, lab draws, wound vacs, etc...and the money is pretty decent for your time. I say keep your head up and that golden opportunity is there if you can just wait it out. Try and keep the discouragement on the back burner as we all know it takes time. The best of luck to you and sending lots of good vibes your way! :)

Amanda, Do not give up hope! I graduated nursing school in 2009 and I also had a hard time finding a job. I ended up taking a position in a long-term care facility for experience. Though it wasn't the area I wanted to start I knew that I was going to learn from it anyways. And I did. I worked there for 6 months. I was able to eventually find a job in the area of where I am advancing my degree now. I know a few of my classmates did the same. They worked for a few months to a year and found jobs in pediatrics, med-surg, etc, later on. My advice is to keep your head up and stay positive. Don't give up. Good luck!

You went to college at Hartwick, where are you trying to find a job? :nurse:

My advice is to keep trying. Apply to all jobs, even if it's not what you want. I precepted in peds and only wanted peds and ended up on an adult ortho floor but its a job!
