Struggle to get license in Oklahoma

Published

Hi everyone!

I am foreign educated nurse from Belarus. In order to get permission for NCLEX-RN exam--I had to pass TOEFL-ibt with total score 83 and sreaking part score--26.

I took TOEFL iBT 6 times and always my speaking score was 24,even though my total score is 92 (when 26 is required for -ONLY- for OK) For some reason--Toefl people believe that my speaking is 24--period...

One year later,I decided to get an approval for NCLEX exam from a different state. I pass the NCLEX-RN exam with 75 questions!

Now, I still can not work in Oklahoma because of my speaking score.....

It is just frustrating...

Help!!!!!!

Seriously, I have to steam off right now ....:angryfire

I am trying to help a Nurse we'd like to hire get her OK license endorsed. She moved to the US 21 years ago, the CGFNS does not have her records anymore (they only keep it for 10 years), she has been licensed in NY since 1990 and in IN since 1994 and OK does not accept any of that. She has to redo her credential evaluation with CGFNS, which CGFNS told her she will have to activate her foreign license again. What???

I don't get it. I believe there should be a national license and that's it. Aaahhhh

That's why there's regulation, and when you come here from a foreign country, you have to meet each states requirements. There shouldn't be a national license because each state has their own scope of practice for nurses. Can your friend get her transcripts from her old country and have them redone? I understand it's time consuming, but if you really want something, then you need to do all possible in order to get it. Good luck

Well she came here 21 years ago. She has 2 US licenses already. They have verified her credentials already. I still disagree, there should be a national license. It would make life easier for Travelers particularly and other RN's that are moving as well.

If the CGFNS only keeps records for a certain amount of years, then maybe they should offer people who have used them the opportunity to renew or something like that. I don't see why they should keep everyones record forever, if someone hasn't asked for them for anything and it's been 12 years, I would say it's safe to say they probably wont ask again. But since there is the small possibility that someone will ask for something again, they should be given the opportunity to renew it in order to keep their file active. As far as national license goes, sorry I don't agree with it as each state has their own set of regulations for nurses.
