I've read many posts about stress related to nursing, and I am interested in discussing more about what you went through. Stress is a topic that influences many people around me, so I’m looking for people with similar experiences as you and hoping to hear from people like you. I would like to invite you to discuss 4 questions with me:
1. What triggers stress for you? Is stress from work related to stress at home?
2. Are there reasons why you wouldn’t share your problems with friends and family?
3. What kind of support are you looking for when you are down for whatever reason it may be?
4. What outcomes/help do you expect from support?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Every loss I experience at work makes me so sad for potentially losing my family. I just bought a house with my love and we're talking about starting a family soon. I'm in a prime season of life and growth and I'm hyper aware of that. I have very little stress at home, and what stress is there is carried over from work.2. Are there reasons why you wouldn’t share your problems with friends and family? My man is fantastic and very supportive. I don't tell him about super traumatic events (ie. GI bleeds who coded and covered the room in blood with compressions), but the daily ins and outs, he hears about. 3. My job is hard, but I'm a good nurse because I try, and dangit, some days will just stink.4. Stress at work affects me after work because I am in the throes of trying to destress! I quit jobs because the frantic pace, the demands, the unattainable goals were contributing to a high level of stress.
I don't share everything with friends and family, I am more able to share with people who work in my type of job or who experience the same type of job stress. Nonmedical, non nursing people don't get it. You can tell them but for some reason they don't believe me how bad work is. I guess they just can't imagine it being the way it is.
The support I need is for someone to tell me they believe me, that the work conditions really are that bad and that I need to take care of myself, that I am worth taking care of and to offer to help me get it under control. Someone offering to take some of the load would be great. Like saying, " you need a break, I am coming over to clean your house tomorrow". But, that is in my dreams, just having someone to commiserate with is helpful. Like on AN.
