Everybody studies different. When I was in nursing school there were some people who studied nonstop and some who barely had to try.Nursing school is packed with an overwhelming amount of information, so it can help to try and be organized. I had to study alot in nursing school and what helped me was to get an organizer just for school stuff and write out every test/assignment/clinical day and block up study time for each thing. When I saw it written out on a calendar it was easier not to get behind. As far as learning the material, I made lots of notecards because reading the material and then having to put it into my own words on notecards is what helped me learn.

Oh and another tip for nursing school, I found that in most cases if you understand the process behind something, or the "why" rather than just memorizing facts, you get much better test grades.

I just finished nursing school and I can say one of the most helpful things was being part of a study group.. You can also tape(if allowed) lectures because there will always be something that you missed and didn't write down. Both of these were very helpful in getting through all those topics! Good Luck

Study groups did seem to help for those who used them in my class. Personally I didn't use one. I got two or three nclex review books & compared the material b/c the outlines were easier to follow for me + did all the questions I could find on the subjects we were being tested on. Sometimes the books had more material that was relevant & important vs. what was taught in class. I was not impressed w/ my professors & nursing is my second career so I already had a degree. Take a deep breath often and prepare to be fustrated regularly. It will get better, but you have to be mentally tough to not let it get to you too much.
