Straight Cath Difficulty

I have a Sr., lady aged late 80's that I've tried to straight cath twice, failed twice. She has had enough to drink but I couldn't thread the needle so to speak. I'm a newbie, only saw males get cathed. hat am I doing wrong. It's easy to go into the VJ but i'm not. Any advice would be great! Thanks!

Are you trying to do it alone?Try getting a second person to help with positioning.Sometimes a flashlight helps with seeing what you are doing.A nurse I work with has a trick for finding the meatus.When she cleanses the area before insertion she uses lots of solution.it runs down and pools in the meatus, making it easier to find.
