Hello Everyone,
I have been reading many threads from pre-nursing and nursing students. But I haven`t seen any about ESL Students (English as s Second Language) who want to become a nurse. First of all, I want to say that to become a nursing student is not an easy thing for all students. But it is harder for an ESL students. Because You have to learn hard subjects in your second language. I started this thread to say I am here and the other ESL students are not alone. To learn education system was not easy, it took a year for me to get it. When I went to SCCC ESL advising center, the first thing that they told me was to become a nursing student was not easy. You had to get B+ and over from all of your prerequisitie classes. But actually I learned that it was not enough to get a B+ from your classes. You have to get A`s from most of your classes. Especially for SCCC. Because They only look at your GPA. But is different for Stony Brook University. GPA is not the only factor for decision. I already applied to 2012 SCCC day and evening programs and Stony Brook 2 year nursing program. And I am going to apply NYU nursing program. My cumulative GPA is 3.9. I am still taking classes in SCCC for Stony Brook. I am nervous and excited. Good luck to everyone. Please let me know about your feelings.
