Stony Brook MSN Summer 2011??

Published

I have applied to the Stony Brook distance learning Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner master's program for Summer 2011. I am anxiously awaiting to see if I will be accepted. Anyone else apply for one of the NP programs at Stony Brook? If so, have you heard anything? Do you know when we will be notified? Any former or current students know when we will be notified?

Any students have any info on the distance learning program at Stony Brook?

Thanks

I got accepted! :yeah:

yay!! congrats roxy253!! that's fantastic news :up::nurse::clown::yeah::lol2:

Carla RNBC,

I will definitely look and listen out for you!

Thanks earb!! I'm so excited!! :)

Congrats to you guys for being accepted! :yeah:

I'm still waiting to hear and received this email today:

"Due to the volume of applications received for Nursing programs, the School of Nursing expects to notify applicants of decisions in late May. We appreciate your patience."

It led me to think that no applicants had heard anything, but I guess some people have heard. I wish I understood the process. How can they notify us (some of us?) in May to start in June? I applied to the Adult NP distance learning program.

Ugh. I just wish I knew so I could plan my life!

Congrats to all on your acceptances. I was wait listed too for the Adult NP Program. So I thought I needed to wait to hear from Hunter or apply to the more expensive Pace, but got accepted the same day as Roxy253. See you on May 2nd and 3rd.

Good luck Cboneal!

Carla RNBC, (and others on this thread) I hope you still check this message board! I just joined to ask you how it's going with the Stony Brook program. I am working on my application for summer of 2012 and am trying to find out anything I can about the Psych/Mental Health MSN program. I stumbled across your messages and see you were in my position last year as you applied and waited to hear. I wish I wouldn't have to wait so long to hear back but I will try to be patient.

If anyone else is in any of the distance learning nursing programs I'd love to get feedback about your experiences so far. How are the classes, the work load, etc. Any pointers? Also, did they discuss the fact that as programs across the country (and I'm assuming eventually at Stony Brook) switch to the DNP model, if you are already enrolled in the MSN, will you be grandfathered in and able to take the NP licensing boards?

Thank you for any help.
