Stony Brook BSN 2017

U.S.A. New York

I'm a student at stony brook now and planning to apply for the 2 year program this fall and hoping to get into it next fall. I know that the program is highly competitive and they only take around 60 people. I dont have a 4.0 gpa but my gpa is above the average gpa of their acceptance. However, my volunteering/health care experience aspect is quite weak. I intend to do more before the application is due but there's not much time left. The biggest issue is that I will be taking a winter class that is a requirement for the application, and the application is due before the winter class ends. Would anyone know if that is going to be an issue for me and what are my chances of getting into the program?

I attended Stony Brooks nursing program about 10 years ago so not too sure how it is now but we were always told they consider students who are already enrolled at Stony Brook before other external applicants even if your GPA may be lower. Also consider making your face known. Pop into the nursing school and display your interest. We were also told some applicants got in because of this. Hope this helps!

From what I understand, to apply you need to have 3 of the 4 sciences (AP1, AP2,Chem and micro)complete before you submit. So if the winter class is one of those science classes it's fine.
