  1. You need to hand in there. The first year is the hardest. You will find your groove. Its not a good freeling to quit at something you worked so hard for.
  2. "They" "you ladies". Not really liking the tone of this pompous male nurse.
  3. My facility banned the mask. All workers must get flu ahot or lose tbeir job.😕
  4. Yup thats why if they ambulate well I let them leave without a wheelchair. My exact rationale if it was ever questioned. Just make sure to document well.
  5. When I was first hired I was young, cute and thin. Then nursing took a toll on me😫😫😫😫😫😂😂😂😂.
  6. Do you have a way to fill out an incident report or unsafe staffing report? Ive been told you cannot refuse bc it IS abandonment but to just take the assignment but fill out an incident report to protect yourself if anything happens.
  7. Saw this coming for 10 years now. Giving Dilaudid like candy to patients. Seeing a post op patient go from acute pain to drug dependence within days, watching the clock. Asking for meds before they are due and doctors giving into them bc pain is subjective right. Its terrible what this epidemic has become!
  8. If you are feeling this way (which is pretty normal). I think most nurses feel this way somewhat at one time or another than I would suggest to transfer to a different unit and try to get day shift. Youve been on your unit for over 1 year so Im sure you would be able to apply to annew unit. As a new nurse Inwould jump around to different areas until you find what you like. And if then you still hate it then maybe consider new options as a new asuxh as leaving the hospital setting.
  9. I would stick with it!! Also talk to your school. Maybe you can start and take a semester off to have the baby. There was a girl in my class pregnant with triplets yes triplets! Im sure its tough but it can be done and it will be easier pregnant than starting from scratch with two little ones!
  10. Haha just wrote about a similar story
  11. Physical therapist decided it was a smart idea to get a 250 pound hemiparitic stroke patient OOB to chair by herself even after i insisted on helping her. Well, patient started going down mid transfer so I jumped in put my leg under her behind for support and before I knew it had poop all over my favorite scrub pants. PT walked out of the room after we got her back in the chair with no apology and guess who was left to clean up the mess!
  12. So many things are wrong with your parents frame of mind. You are right, nursing starting salary is good depending on what state you work in. Nurses DO NOT Work for doctors in most instances. You work for the hospital, facility and you are a part of an interdisciplinary team that invloves doctors. Maybe your reasoning for feeling down and depressed is bc your parents put you down. Being a doctor is not all that its cracked up to be anymore. You must have a passion for it bc its alot of school, alot of student loans, long stressful hours and many times they dont get compensated well unless you go into specialties such as surgery, IR etc. I would say go for it and dont listen to what anyone has to say. Its your life and your hapiness.
  13. This doesnt look practical at all and would never fit at the bedside!
  14. Did you ask what the complaint was about? I don't see why you wouldnt be able to get more info about it especially that you are suspended until they investigate. And how do they investigate without even asking your side ifvteh story. Seems very strange to me.
