Stony Brook Accelerated Nursing Class of 2015

U.S.A. New York

Published

It's almost september, which means people are starting to get their applications for nursing together real soon. I'm currently in the 1-yr nursing program here at Stony Brook. A previous alum started the 2014 thread for us, so I figured I do the same. Feel free to ask questions or message me with them. Good luck to everyone applying! :)

Morning All,

2 days until the deadline. Has anyone who turned in their application, heard anything?

Hi DreamNurse, I graduated from Stony Brook's accelerated nursing program this year and our class had a range of students that had been accepted to our program. There are many students such as myself, who had a 3.0-3.3 range when applying. I personally believe that they key to getting accepted was my references and personal statement. Admissions really wants to see a passion for nursing in your personal statement and I think if you can convey that your gpa isn't the main focus. With that being said, it is getting more competitive to get in so if you have a chance to raise your gpa a bit before applying, I would do so. But, I would create my main focus on getting solid recommendations and a solid personal statement.

Hey Guys

I submitted my application last week or so. I have 5 letters of rec, 2 are M.D.'s, 2 are Phd, and one is my boss. I shadow a doctor, work at mather hospital and I'm on two research teams. I have an eh GPA and I'm a little nervous about it :/ I don't know if anyone has any success stories about getting into the program even though GPA wasn't up to par.

Thanks!

There's a class of 2016 thread that you might want to follow. As for your GPA, stony brook really does look at your whole application and my personal hunch is that the letters of req and your personal statement are a big chunk of what they judge you on. There are many people with high and even 4.0 gpas who get rejected and tons of people with eh gpas that get accepted so don't count yourself out! I had a 2.5 GPA from my undergrad but a 4.0 GPA in my prereqs and 40 units since undergrad and I was accepted! If you look at past threads there are a lot of people with not stellar gpas who get accepted. Good luck!!!

Hi I was wondering if anyone who applied for June 2015 accelerated program has heard anything yet?

Hello All!

I was just hoping some one might be able to provide me with average time that you are done with classes on M W F. I am asking because for the class of 2016 accelerated program I am trying to work out childcare for my daughter. I know class starts usually at 8am, but when are you typically done?

Thanks so much for any help!

Hi Rebecca, I was wondering if you heard back from the accelerated program. Did you get accepted?

The New Year is approaching along with anxiety waiting to her back from admissions. When did most students receive their admission letters? By Mail? By Email? By Phone?

still havent heard anything :arghh:
