Stony Brook Accelerated BSN

Published

Hey there!

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what a competitive average for the accelerated 12 month BSN program would be? I'm from Canada and I have completed my BSc and BEd.

Thanks!

I am not in the accelerated program, but in the 2 year program at stony brook. As for clinicals some are done at stony brook hospital and at hospitals nearby stony brook. For my Psy rotations at had to travel approx. 30 mins to the clinical site.

I attended the 12 month program in 2006 and my BS gpa was 2.9 that was earned in 1999. Some pre-req's I took, I had a 4.0. It was all about the interview and your accomplishments I think if your GPA was not so high. The requirement was 2.5 minimum back then. And the schedule is busy but it's manageable. Just don't expect to work during the year more than 1 day/week. If you are able to take pathophys or pharmacology prior to the program, those were the most intense ones, and when I was there, it was scheduled together during the semester. I luckily had taken pathophys and got credit for it. I liked the program and I have a great job as a result. Surprisingly, Stony Brook degree is well regarded in the working world. they are pretty well known for medicine.
