Hi there..I'm applying as well, the essay stumped me as well. My undergrad grades aren't to hot so I really wanted a killer essay. Hopefully the process is smooth!

Hello! I am also applying to Stony Brooks accelerated program. I live not too far from campus so it would be nice to be able to stay home for nursing school.

I checked the website and couldn't find any information about the essay/ application you guys are referring to? Am I missing something? All I see is the basic info about deadlines, pre reqs, etc.

Also, do we first have to apply through the SUNY system before applying to the nursing program? I have tried contacting the school but I am never able to get in contact with the nursing department.

When you get to the nursing site, there's a link on the left to apply now. You'll have to register an account and then do the application through there. You do not need to go through SUNY proper. All the information about the essay and such will be in there.

Hey guys,

I applied to Stony Brook as well for the summer cohort. I have not gotten my SOLAR account info yet. I did however, get an email about a week ago saying that the SOLAR system is under maintenance as of now and will become available soon. From previous threads people were getting calls for an interview around mid-October. Good luck to all!! :)

Thats usually what happens, after you apply, they send you your SOLAR account information with a week or two. But as of now its under maintenance so it might take them longer. That's the email I received that there will be a little delay in sending it. There is no other way to check the application status :/

Alright thanks! And do we have to wait until our recommenders have uploaded the LORs in order to submit the application?

@xxdancer13 you can submit the application as long as you have requested the letters of recommendations. Your recommenders just have to do them before the deadline. They have to submit them electronically.

Still no email on my SOLAR account. I got accepted to University of Miami for their Spring 2017 start but I don't think I will be going there. Now I want to stay close to home.
