Hello-
I graduated with a BSN and passed boards in June- have applied to I would have to say at least a hundred jobs- LTC, Skilled Nursing Facilites, Hospitals, Clinics, etc- and nothing. I had an interview for the Salem ICU internship but received news it had been canceled. Every position that I have applied for I have been passed up for someone who is more qualified, ie not a new graduate. Due to family circumstances I cannot relocate. Are there any other new grads out there also struggling? Any advice/suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

I am waiting to hear from Salem hosp. also. So the internship they cancelled was that this winter? It is hard to know what is going on, I've filled out about 5 different apps with them, I don't want to bug them, but maybe I need to. Thanks for any insight you have. Melissa

Hi, sorry to hear about your difficulty finding a job. I just moved to the Portland area this summer, and in spite of my 3 years of experience as an RN it still took me months to find a job. Almost everywhere in the area has been on a hiring freeze since January, and what I hear is that they're just now loosening up and starting to hire again. Two local new grads who were hired with me had graduated last December, and hadn't been able to find a thing until September even though they'd done internships at school and had basically been promised jobs.
It's been a pretty bad situation, but things are starting to look up. I hope you find something soon... like I said, I know of at least two new grads who've finally been able to find work, so hopefully it won't be too long for you.
You're probably already well aware of this website, but http://www.indeed.com is an excellent job search site for just about anywhere in the country.
