Stethoscopes....

Specialties Ob/Gyn

Do you carry one? There is only one nurse that works our unit that carries hers. There is usually one in all the LDR's (on the warmer... a cheapie). I usually grap it for admission assessment and if there is any problems... should I be carrying my own?

The more I think about it, the more I wonder why the hospital doesn't provide quality stethoscopes. Our L&D doesn't have any manual bp cuffs, either, and that makes me nervous. If I have a patient off mag or with PIH, I ALWAYS check her BP manually. Without quality, accurate measures, you can take vital signs regularly and still miss critical signs of complications.

Until I started at the unit im currently working on, I never carried a stethoscope, the unit always had several and baby ones on the warmers........rarely use a manual bp cuff, anywhere i've worked,

I don't.....:o

I should! :imbar

I will! :)

Now, excuse me....I have to go shopping!:roll
