Hey Everyone,
I know this is prob a silly question, but is there a difference in qualiity when it comes to a $5.99 stethoscope and a $200.00 one? If so, what are the differences? My friend insists that there's no difference, but i kind of find that hard to believe. Also, is it silly to buy a pink stethoscope for nursing school? They're so pretty....
Thankie!

Lots of nursing students have pretty ones so go for the pink
The $200 one you are referring to must be the Littmann cardiology one??? It is better at hearing fine murmurs and things but really not worth it in my opinion unless you plan on going in to cardiology when you graduate. What other ones are looking at?? 5.99 makes me a little curious?!! I have had a few different ones in different price ranges and there are differences!!! I'd recommend one of the basic Littmanns, the lightweight classic or classic II.. They're about 50 I think!
Best of luck!

Several students in my class have the pink Littman, and they all complain that they cannot get the tubing clean once it starts getting any kind of pen markings, etc., on it. (One of the reasons I didn't purchase one.)
I personally went with the Littman Master Cardio and think that it was totally worth it. I think the ones referred to in the above post are also excellent choices. It really just depends on you (and your hearing). I have slight hearing loss in one ear (difficulty with certain tones, etc.) and the Master Cardio is the only one that I can get 100% accurate BP's with.
I would recommend asking some of your fellow students if you could try theirs out so you can get a better idea of which one suits your needs.
