Nursing Students SRNA

Published

I live in NY and i plan on staying home. So if i went to Molloy college for nursing bachelors. From there what would i have to do to become a CRNA, and what programs in NY are the best and are the hardest to get into.

Thank You

There are 2 program in nyc columbia u and downstate( which is suspended until 2009) to get ur master after molloy. There are a couple of school in nj umdnj and sacred heart i think but not sure u can commute. there are a couple of school upstate but not commutable from nyc. not sure which one easier to get into but columbia is pricey in nyc.

can anybody get into that program at columbia or is it competitive like applying to college?

and..

why was the downstate program suspended?

thank you

Anybody can get into columbia with a competative gpa, interview well, and meet their requirement. downstate i believe got suspended for prob. with there clinical sites.

clinical sites? and so if i go to Molloy for nursing and get my bachelor's, then i have to have internship at an icu for two years and apply to Columbia? what are there requirements?

Admission criteria include for columbia:

Current New York State nursing license or eligibility

Bachelor's degree in nursing from an NLN or CCNE accredited program

Minimum of one year experience in an intensive care setting

Satisfactory score on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE)

An undergraduate course in statistics

A physical assessment course

Two semesters of Chemistry (at least one organic course) and one semester of physics

Three references attesting to the applicant's academic ability and potential

Personal goal statement that is congruent with program goals (two pages, double-spaced, 12 pt. font)

Resume or Curriculum Vitae

If u meet the requirements the hardest thing is paying for it.

which school would be better for me to get my nursing degree in i after i wanted to become a nurse anesthesis? Molloy, Adelphi, or possbily Stony Brook?

i don't think school matter as much as much as gpa. i think columbia reqiures 1 years of icu experience as a rn. they prefer 2yrs in cticu or a surgical icu or adult icu unit. have good reference and be well rounded
