STATS online...would you do it?

I start my ABSN program in January, but I am accepted conditionally due to finishing up a few pre-reqs. I have to take stats in the fall, and it is required that I get a B in order to be in the program. I really want to take it online so that I don't have to actually go to school.

I'm looking for opinions as to whether I should take it online...my background in math is NO statistics experience; however, I have taken other math classes with no problem...I used to tutor Algebra, and last semester I took Chemistry and found the math super easy. I got 100% on the Accuplacer math test without preparing in any way.

I'm leaning towards taking it online...what do you think? TIA

I took Stats online and found it to be pretty easy. The calculator did most of the work, all I had to do was to follow the instruction manual. The course I took used something called My Math Lab.

I never did any additional practice problems other than th ones assigned. However I did keep good notes. In my notes, I would do a sample problem and show which formula to use and how to find the formula on the calculator. (ie: shift-Stats-1:functions- 4: x= blablabla)

I would write down key words that would help trigger my memory as to which formula to use. So, a word problem could start out with "A tire company .... or a typewriter company " and I would write "typewriters and tires" followed by whatever formula I would need to use.

The quizzes were a little difficult, but the actual tests were multiple choice.

The good thing about my online class is that you could work ahead as far as you liked, so I was finished with the class at about week 10 of the 16 week semester.

I recommend giving it a shot. Even as an online student you have access to the college tutors.

Only you know what's right for you though.

Good luck,

I would take it online.

I got a "D" the first time I took stats. A dead platypus would've been better than that teacher. The second time I got into the class of a highly recommended teacher. If I hadn't gotten into his class I would've taken it online anyway.

Truth be told I did most of my learning at home when studying, getting tips online and going in to see the tutors.
