Does any other state besides KY say a nursing student graduate has to wait to take NCLEX after graduating? I had to wait until I worked 120 hours before I could take my NCLEX. At the time it didn't bother me to much but now that I graduated in December 2006, started working Jan. 2007 and I still can't say I have been a RN for a year. I am a little aggrivated. I am searching for a new job in another hospital and I think it looks better to be able to say I have a year in, rather than I will have a year in.... I know March doesn't seem to far away, but I really DO NOT LIKE the hospital I work for. I am sooo looking forward to moving on.

I also live in Ky. I graduated Dec 07 and don't start work until Jan 14 so it will probably be March before I can take Nclex. From what I have heard KY did the 120 hr thing because new nurses were not getting the proper orientation time so they figured if we had to do 120 before Nclex we will have at least that much orientation. I thlink it stinks but what can you do. A girl that I graduated with went to Ohio to work and her nurse manager said it was like Ky was going backwards instead of forward, but like I said what can we do? To answer your question I do not know of any other state that requires this.
Your time frame sounds like mine. I heard the same thing about new grads not getting the orientation time deserved. Good Luck on NCLEX!
