I'm interested in advanced practice, primarily nursing anesthesia and family practice. I understand there is a bit of a battle right now amongst nursing anesthesia and anesthesiology as a whole.
How safe is nursing anesthesia as a profession (future outlook)?
The area I'm in doesn't get many CRNAs. The anesthesiologist group has locked them out pretty well. Am I possibly going to have a difficult time finding a job in a nice area?
Thanks!

Let me answer your question with a question:
So the career outlook for RNs has been amazing for years. That's wonderful. And yet how often do you see nurses who cannot find jobs? I have submitted over 600 job applications, and nothing yet. Therefore, I would advise you to take all of these predictions with a grain of salt. Now, I am not telling you to ignore the signs and take up stenography or another dying field. Just remember that nothing is guaranteed.

Finding a job in a "nice" area is all relative to what you consider a "nice" area. The battles in anesthesia/APNs has been going on since the early 1900's, so it isn't anything new. There are battles for all APNs over independence not just anesthesia.
The Value of CRNAs You can take a look under the section "about us" on the AANA website. It should give all the statistics that you want, but in general CRNAs are still in demand and it should be that way for a long time to come.
